Jewel N. Thompson
Jewel N. Thompson, MBA is the Small Business Program Coordinator/ Financial Well-Being Coach for Operation Hope an organization with a mission to eradicate poverty and empower low-income communities.
In this position, she also serves as an on-site credit and money management counselor with Operation HOPE’s partnership with BB&T Bank. During her tenure she developed several community stakeholder relationships including Liftfund, Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs, Women’s Entrepreneurship Initiative, Google, Georgia.gov, City of Atlanta office of Contract Compliance and Invest Atlanta, which have aided in the continued development of the entrepreneurs in her programs.
Additionally, Ms. Thompson developed and co-chaired the Young African Leaders Conference, a conference held in 2010 and has continued to create programming geared towards the empowerment of young African millennials in the city of Atlanta ranging from networking events to community discussions. Her heart is rooted in public service. She currently serves as the advisory board chair for the non-profit ChopArt, which provides multi-disciplinary art classes for children in homeless situations.
She has been awarded with the YNPN and Georgia Center for Non-Profits 30 Under 30 Award, the Power 30 Under 30 Atlanta for her work in community service, Apinke Magazine Young Community Leader Award, the Miss Africa Humanitarian Award and is the former Miss Ghana Georgia. She is an avid lover of the arts and committed to developing leadership programs for the emerging youth.
Ms. Thompson is a graduate of Oglethorpe University with a BS in Business Administration and a concentration in Marketing and received a dual MBA from Georgia State University J. Mack Robinson School of Business and the Sorbonne IAE Paris School of Business in Paris, France.
Dance Therapy/Expression Advisor
Laurie Jones is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), and has obtained degrees in health education (BS), public health (MPH), naturopathy (ND), and clinical mental health counseling (MS). She did an internship at Moving in the Spirit in 2011, received the Volunteer of the Year award in 2014, and is studying expressive arts therapy with a concentration in dance movement therapy (DMT) under the supervision of Board Certified Dance Movement Therapist, Dr. Charné Furcron. Laurie and some of her students are featured in The Moving Child (Part I & II), a documentary about movement’s important role in a child’s physical, mental, emotional and social health.
Erin Alexander is a Co-Owner and Marketing Manager at SmartPlex Aesthetics Treatments and Lasers works.
Erin received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in International Business from Alabama A&M University where her emphasis studies included Marketing, Accounting, Business Management, Management of Information Systems, Finance, Global Finance, and International Finance.
Growing up she is studied dance at Annoited Dance Academy and the McClendon School of Dance she was in the junior dance company. Erin studied Ballet, tap, jazz, liturgical and hip hop.
Erin has experience as a Community Organizer for the Florida Democratic Party, Business Manager at Leadership DeKalb, Congressional Intern in the United States House of Representatives and the Alabama House of Representatives, Diplomatic Corps Intern for the International Service Council (ISC), Campaign Office Manager for the Atlanta City Council Post 2 Campaign, Marketing Advisor for the campaign of a circuit court judge.
Tonya Iverson is the owner, certified personal trainer and nutrition coach of Your Personal Best Fitness, LLC in Atlanta, GA. Tonya’s fitness philosophy is “you’re stronger than you think”. You’re stronger than you think emotionally, mentally, spiritually and physically.
Tonya holds her personal training certificate from the nationally recognized Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) and she is an active member of the Idea Health and Fitness Association. She is also a certified health coach with The Healthy Edge and a nutrition coach. Additionally, Tonya has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Broadcast Journalism from Georgia State University.
In 2014, Tonya created and co-produced her own fitness DVD entitled, Toning Your Temple with Tonya Iverson. The DVD offers two, fun, yet challenging beginner and intermediate workouts. In her spare time, Tonya enjoys spending quality time with her kids and family, traveling, going to the movies, reading personal development books and suspense novels. She is also an active member of her church, the West End Church of Christ in Atlanta where she is the chair of the Grief/bereavement ministry.
The mission of Cool Moms Dance Too! is to help mothers and their children manage their mental and physical health using dance, games and guided journaling as a stress coping mechanism, self-expression outlet, mental and physical health alternative.
